One Good Turn

Norman is the oldest child at Greenwood Children’s Home. He now works there as its caretaker and looks after the others. The home runs well and the children are well cared for. Then the chairman of the home’s board makes a plan. The man is also a property developer; he wants to close the home and build a factory on the site. That day the children are taken to Brighton. Norman is excited because he has never seen the sea. When they get back they learn about the plan to close it. What they do next is theirs to decide. The film was shot in black and white. Norman Wisdom and Joan Rice take the leads in John Paddy Carstairs’s British film of 1955.
