Sleeping Car to Trieste

A diary is stolen from an embassy in Paris. What is in it is dangerous. If it came out it could start trouble in one country. The thieves open the safe during a reception. A servant who walks in on them is killed. Then one of the thieves takes the diary and runs. His name is Karl. Karl boards the Orient Express. The train is bound for Trieste. The other two get on the same train after him, Valya and Zurta, meaning to get the diary back before it arrives. There are other passengers in the carriage, among them a detective and a man who wants to be a chef. A couple carrying on a secret affair are drawn in as well. Jean Kent and Albert Lieven appear in the ninety five minute film, a British production John Paddy Carstairs finished in 1948.
