What Our Nixon Is About
Three of Richard Nixon’s closest aides carried Super 8 cameras through their White House years and filmed everything they saw. All three were later convicted in the Watergate investigation, the footage was seized, and nobody saw it for decades. Penny Lane sets those reels against the tape recordings and builds a portrait of a presidency shot from the inside, and shot with admiration. There is no narrator and no commentary from outside; the enthusiasm of the men holding the cameras, and the fact that they do not yet know what is coming, supply all the tension the film needs.
