Part of the Weekend Never Dies

The documentary is about the world tour of the band Soulwax. The director Saam Farahmand followed them across their international dates. The method of shooting is unusual: a hundred and twenty concerts recorded with a single camera. Filming was done in Europe, Japan, the United States, Latin America and Australia. What comes out of it is a slice of life on the road. People around the band speak in the film as well, James Murphy and Nancy Whang among them. Footage from behind the scenes and from the concerts is used together. The tiredness of a tour is inside the account as much as its excitement. The sixty minutes are built like a tour diary. Saam Farahmand’s film, a joint British and Belgian production, was completed in 2008.
