What Revenge of the Pink Panther Is About
A drug syndicate decides to kill the inspector. The attempt takes the wrong man, and because he is officially dead he is free to investigate. The film turns that premise into a run of disguises. The narrative is loose: the scenes are connected less by plot than by the destruction he leaves, with his superior's breakdown running alongside. Blake Edwards directed; it was the last film Peter Sellers completed in the role. Part of it was shot in Hong Kong. Before watching: the drawing of the Asian manservant is of its period and reads badly today. The jokes are also looser than in the earlier films.
