What Roadkill Is About

Ramona, who works for a music promoter in Toronto, is sent out on the road to find a band that has stopped turning up for its gigs in northern Ontario. Along the way she meets a cab driver who smokes pot, an eager director trying to film the dead animals at the side of the highway, and a young man who thinks he is a serial killer. Whether she finds the band stops mattering after a while; what matters is what she learns about herself on the road. Bruce McDonald’s first feature was shot on a small budget, in black and white, with the energy of rock music. The eighty five minute Canadian production was completed in 1989 and was named best Canadian film in Toronto.
