What Sharkwater Extinction Is About
Rob Stewart's sequel, made twelve years after the first Sharkwater. The question is sharper this time: if finning is banned in so many countries, why are sharks still disappearing? Stewart follows the money into pirate fishing, into shark meat sold under other labels, and into a supply chain that runs from cosmetics to food. As he puts it, a system that makes all of us accomplices. Stewart died in a dive in early 2017 with the film unfinished; his team and his family completed it and it was released in 2018. Which makes it a farewell as well.
