All either of them wants is to fix their status. The route is clear enough, a marriage to an American. Mario Moretti is the man they find. He is older and he is in debt. He takes the money and agrees to the wedding. What begins on paper turns into something else. Their problems could be solved or they could multiply. The film stands in that thin space between the false and the real. Sylvia Chang wrote the screenplay together with Ang Lee. René Liu made her screen debut here.
