Snotty Boy

In the Austria of the sixties a boy grows up in a small town whose very name is a joke. The town is conservative, the church is strong, and the past is not discussed. The boy draws; and he draws everything he sees, in the shape nobody wants to see it. The adults get angry, and the boy carries on drawing. Marcus H. Rosenmüller and Santiago López Jover directed this animation together, starting from the life and the drawings of the Austrian caricaturist Manfred Deix. Deix served as the film's art director and stayed with the production until his death in 2016. The invented name of the town is a direct reference to postwar Austria's failure to reckon with its past. It is the country's first feature-length 3D animation.
