Solo

Four separate stories, four different men. Shekhar has a love affair with a blind young woman. Trilok loses the woman he loves and goes after revenge. Shiva is a soldier facing a choice in the middle of a war. Rudra is settling accounts with his father. All four are played by the same actor and the stories are tied to the elements of water, air, fire and earth. Bejoy Nambiar builds a structure referring to the different faces of Shiva. Each part has its own tone, its own palette and its own music; one is romantic drama, one a crime film, one a war narrative. That structure is the film's most ambitious and most uneven feature. Dulquer Salmaan plays all four roles. The film was shot simultaneously in Malayalam and Tamil, and some sections differ between the two versions. Who it's for: Viewers who like anthology films, Dulquer Salmaan, and formal experiment. Who it's not for: The parts are not of equal quality and it runs long. The link to the elements also feels forced at times.
