Soul on a String

Taibei is a young man living in Tibet. One day out hunting he brings down a deer. In the animal’s mouth he finds a stone. The stone is held to be sacred. He has to carry it to where it belongs. That place is the holy mountain bearing the handprint of the Buddha. The road is long and hard. Once he sets out he is not left alone. A stubborn woman named Joan joins him. A boy named Pu is with them too. Meanwhile two brothers come after him. The two want to avenge their father. The account comes from the stories of Tashi Dawa. Jinpa and Choenyi Tsering take the leads in Zhang Yang’s Chinese film of 2016.
