What Teiichi: Battle of Supreme High Is About
Teiichi Akaba is a pupil at the country's most established boys' school, the kind that turns out ministers, members of parliament and senior officials. His ambition is large: to become prime minister and found a country of his own. The first step is the presidency of the student council. The election begins and the school turns into a political stage. Akira Nagai directed the Japanese film from Usamaru Furuya's manga. The tone is broad and deliberately absurd: a school election is staged like a real political campaign, with the alliances, the betrayals and the speeches all given the same seriousness. Ryoma Takeuchi takes the lead, with Masaki Suda also in the cast. The joke is really on adult politics.
