The Con-Heartist

Ina's former boyfriend disappeared and left her a debt she cannot pay. One day she catches Tower trying to con her. Instead of handing him to the police she makes an offer: together they will con the ex-boyfriend and get the money back. Tower accepts, and one con man and two people who are not con men embark on an unprepared plan. Mez Tharatorn works within Thailand's popular comedy tradition: fast dialogue, exaggerated supporting characters, and an emotional undercurrent. The con sequences are laid out step by step and the audience is shown the plan; it runs on pace rather than suspense. Nadech Kugimiya plays Tower and Pimchanok Luevisadpaibul plays Ina. Who it's for: Viewers who like Thai comedy, con constructions, and films that combine romantic comedy with crime. Who it's not for: It runs long, and in the final section the emotional register comes forward and smothers the comedy. Some of the schemes also go through too easily.
