What The Creation of the World Is About
An animated film about the creation of the world in six days, with nobody taking the matter seriously. God tries to put an order together while the devil keeps interrupting to make his own contribution, and everything that gets made comes out slightly crooked. It is adapted from a series of five books by the French cartoonist Jean Effel, and the line comes straight off his page. Eduard Hofman directed and the animation was done in Czechoslovakia. Counted among the first animated features made for France, it mocks not faith itself but the idea of a flawless creation.
