Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle

Infinity Castle (2025) is the first of three films covering the final arc of the series. The headquarters of the Demon Slayer Corps is attacked and all of the slayers are dropped into a trap: the Infinity Castle. It is not a fixed structure; rooms move, floors rotate, and nobody knows where they are. The slayers are separated one by one and each meets a different upper rank demon. The film concentrates on three of those fights and each works like its own chapter. The heart of it this time is the demons' pasts. A flashback arrives in the middle of each fight explaining how the figure opposite became a demon; most of them passed through some helplessness. The series has done this from the beginning and it is at its clearest here. The studio is ufotable. The castle's rotating architecture is built on computer, the fights are hand drawn, and the two are combined. It did extraordinary business, breaking opening records in Japan and entering the highest grossing animated films worldwide. The second and third films of the trilogy are planned. It makes no sense without the series and the previous film; it continues directly and introduces nothing. It is long and almost entirely combat. It runs 155 minutes. Good for: anime, action, and followers of the series. Less good for: it cannot be entered without the series, the violence is bloody, and the length is tiring.
