Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - Asakusa Arc

Tanjiro arrives in Asakusa with his sister Nezuko. A crowded street, gas lamps, food stalls. There he sees Muzan Kibutsuji, the progenitor of the demons, for the first time, walking about in the guise of an ordinary family man. He then meets Tamayo, a doctor researching demons. The film is not interested in fighting. It is interested in the invisibility of the enemy: Muzan does not look like a monster, he lives among people and can turn anyone into a demon at will. The tension comes from not knowing who is what in a crowd. The form is compiled from television episodes: the series' Asakusa arc was assembled for cinema screening with a new opening added. This is not a feature but a compilation shown in cinemas. Haruo Sotozaki directed; the production is Ufotable's. The studio's use of colour and movement, particularly the night scenes in Asakusa, are among the most discussed visual passages in the series. Natsuki Hanae voices Tanjiro and Akari Kito voices Nezuko. Who it is for: people following the series who want to see it in a cinema. Who it is not for: anyone new to it. The compilation starts in the middle of the story and introduces no characters.
