The Informers

The detective investigating a run of bank robberies starts getting close to the men behind them. They notice it. To keep him off, they set up a blackmail scheme. The point is to discredit him and get him taken off the case. For a while it works. But then the gang falls out among themselves. The crack between them hands the police the truth. The film builds its crime story around informers; what it really turns on is who is passing what to whom. The work sits inside the British crime cinema of the sixties. Harry Andrews and Derren Nesbitt are in the cast as well. Nigel Patrick and Colin Blakely appear in Ken Annakin’s British film of 1963, a hundred and five minutes long.
