Strange things happen in a large Copenhagen hospital, and the staff are too occupied with their own rivalries to attend to them. Lars von Trier built it in a yellow filtered, handheld and deliberately dirty image, with horror and comedy occupying the same scene. The arrogance of the doctors, the gossip in the dish room and the seances are all given equal seriousness. The director addressing the camera at the end of each episode became its signature. Made for television and now discussed as cinema. It does not resolve.
