What The Miracle of the Bells Is About
The body of a young actress is brought back to the mining town where she was born by the publicity man who loved her and got her film made. Her last wish was that every church bell in the town should ring for three days after her burial; but that takes money, and the cheques he writes are not honoured. It is the weekend, the banks are closed, and while the bells ring he prays for a miracle. Something does happen, though not what he hoped for, and the town reads it according to its own need. Fred MacMurray, Alida Valli and Frank Sinatra appear in Irving Pichel’s hundred and twenty minute American film.
