What The Rolling Stones: Live at the Max Is About
Shot in the summer of 1990 on the European leg of the Steel Wheels and Urban Jungle tour, across five shows in London, Turin and Berlin, using eight IMAX cameras on sixty-five millimetre film. The result was the first feature-length concert film made in the IMAX format, the first time a screen that size stood level with the band’s stadium-scale staging. Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, Ronnie Wood and Bill Wyman are on stage. It opened in Los Angeles on 25 October 1991. The directing credit is a crowded one, listing Noel Archambault, David Douglas, Julien Temple, Christine Strand and Roman Kroitor together. The summary in the record names the tour only as Steel Wheels, while the European leg went out under the name Urban Jungle.
