What The Rolling Stones: Olé Olé Olé! - A Trip Across Latin America Is About
At the beginning of 2016 the Rolling Stones went out on a tour that took in ten Latin American cities. The documentary follows the journey: backstage, the plane, hotel rooms, crowds, and audiences that change from city to city. The tour's real target sits at the end of it: an open-air, free concert in Havana. The band had never played in Cuba, so the show was a first for them as well. Alongside the concert footage, Paul Dugdale's film gives room to the countries' own stories, asking what this music meant in places where rock was banned or hard to come by for long stretches. The Havana concert fell in the same days as Obama's visit to the island, after the United States eased the embargo, and the show picked up an extra meaning because of it.
