The Rolling Stones: Havana Moon

25 March 2016, Havana. The Rolling Stones take the stage in Cuba for the first time. The concert was free and open air at the Ciudad Deportiva, and hundreds of thousands filled the ground. The band ended its South American tour here, playing in a country where their kind of music had for years been officially unwelcome. Paul Dugdale's film is the record of that concert. Alongside the performance the camera keeps turning to the audience, and the faces of people hearing this band live for the first time are the most striking thing in it. The set list is made of the group's familiar songs. The political meaning of the concert is never argued out on screen, but the crowd filling the ground carries it anyway.
