What The Threat Is About
Two men break out of prison. They have a kidnapped baby with them. They force their way into Misawa’s house. Misawa works at an advertising agency and lives a quiet life. His family is there with him. The men take the whole household hostage. There is only one thing they want from him. He is to collect the ransom on their behalf. Misawa has to leave the house and do it. Every handover creates a new danger. Some of the meetings go to plan and some do not. His compliance starts to crack as it goes on. Submission is what the film is really built on. Kinji Fukasaku tells it in black and white and with a hard edge. Rentaro Mikuni and Kō Nishimura appear in the eighty four minute film, a Japanese production Fukasaku finished in 1966.
