Unforgiven

On 1 July 2002 two aircraft collided over Überlingen in Germany, and most of the dead were children. The architect Vitaly Kaloyev lost his wife and both his children, and was among the first to find their bodies at the crash site. Responsibility was placed on the company monitoring the airspace and on the single controller who was on duty alone that night. Two years later Kaloyev travelled to Switzerland and stabbed that controller to death outside his house. The film tells the story from Kaloyev's side. He was convicted of premeditated murder, served part of the sentence, returned to Russia and was received by some there as a hero. The man he killed also left a family behind. Dmitry Nagiyev plays Kaloyev, and Sarik Andreasyan directs.
