What WR: Mysteries of the Organism Is About

The film splits in two: on one side documentary passages shot in America about the psychoanalyst Wilhelm Reich, on the other a story set in Yugoslavia about a young woman who argues for sexual freedom. Dusan Makavejev crashes the two together to arrive at one claim: every order that represses sexuality is doing the same work, whatever ideology it carries. Soviet propaganda footage and American counterculture sit side by side in the same cut. It was banned in Yugoslavia and the director had to leave the country. It contains explicit sexual material.
