Harvey Keitel
37 films · 2 series
All three institutions wrote the award straight to Harvey Keitel. Berlin gave him a Silver Bear as its Special Jury Prize in 1995 for Smoke, the Italian academy followed a year later with its foreign acting category for the same film, and the Independent Spirits had already made him their lead male of 1992 for Bad Lieutenant. He turns up in five British Film Institute pieces, two of which describe him from outside the part he is playing. One has him at his grimmest as a former soldier and, in the same breath, notes that he was also its executive producer. The other counts him among the foreign actors Theo Angelopoulos called on to play troubled Greek artists, listed next to Marcello Mastroianni.
