Six archives carry Quentin Tarantino's name, and the award is written directly to him in only two of them. Independent Spirit gives him best director in 1995 for Pulp Fiction, and the French academy an honorary Cesar in 2011. That same American institution had nominated him for best director in 1993 for Reservoir Dogs. The Italian academy's three awards go to his films in the foreign film category, Pulp Fiction, Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained, while Once Upon a Time in Hollywood stays a nominee there. At the 1998 Berlinale the award goes not to him but to Samuel L. Jackson, for the performance in Jackie Brown. The British Film Institute holds no award in his name; he appears there in Sin City's credits, as the guest director of a single scene. In the Korean Film Council archive his name is a measure instead: a director's casting gets likened to his choosing Pam Grier for Jackie Brown.
