A Fool And A Hater

Thomas is a well meaning man who is easily taken in. He is in love with Urania, who has been widowed. Her tight fisted husband Sotiris has been counted dead for over a year, since the ship he sailed on went down. Then Sotiris turns up, saying he was in hiding to collect the life insurance. Urania, who is involved with someone else, talks Thomas into killing him. Thomas tries and fails. Everything comes out when Sotiris, discovering that the insurance money has been stolen, appears shouting at his own memorial service. A trial follows, and the film takes its title from something said in that courtroom. Christos Efthimiou and Dionysis Papagiannopoulos appear in Giannis Dalianidis’s sixty nine minute Greek film, completed in 1959.
