What a-ha: The Movie Is About
In 1985 Take On Me went to number one on the Billboard chart and three young men from Oslo became world stars overnight. The documentary covers how they got there: the broke years in London, the demos turned down again and again, the one song that finally landed. It also covers what came after. The three played together for forty years without the distance between them ever closing; they go on stage, and when they come off they go their separate ways. Thomas Robsahm and Aslaug Holm directed it together. Morten Harket, Magne Furuholmen and Paul Waaktaar-Savoy each speak separately. A hundred and nine minutes. Less a band documentary than the story of a band that never quite broke up.
