What A World Without Thieves Is About
A pair of con artists head west with their latest takings. On the train they meet Sha Gen, a carpenter carrying home every yuan he has saved over years of work, who genuinely believes there are no thieves in the world. She decides to protect that belief; he sees easy money and thinks otherwise. There is also a professional pickpocket gang aboard. Feng Xiaogang builds the tension out of sleight of hand rather than fighting: who put what in whose pocket, and who put it back.
