What A Yank at Oxford Is About

Lee Sheridan is a young American. He is an athlete and very sure of himself. He comes to England to study. The place he goes to is Oxford. In his first days he does a good deal of boasting. Because of it he makes enemies rather than friends. He then starts going out with Molly Beaumont. Molly is Paul’s sister. Paul is Lee’s rival at the college. One day Paul is wrongly accused. Lee takes the blame for him and wins respect at the college. He then hides Paul’s sweetheart in his own room. If that comes out he could be sent down. He could lose the girl he loves as well. On top of it the boat race against Cambridge is coming up. Robert Taylor and Maureen O’Sullivan take the leads, with Vivien Leigh and Lionel Barrymore also in the cast, in Jack Conway’s British film of 1938.
