Aakrosh

Three medical students disappear in a small town in India. The central investigation bureau assigns two officers to look into it. Local people will not talk, the police will not cooperate, and the town's own order closes every door. What the two officers run into as they push on is not a simple disappearance but the practice known as honour killing. Priyadarshan's film has Ajay Devgn and Akshaye Khanna in the leads. Its subject rests on a documented reality in India: young people killed by their own families or communities for breaking the rules of caste and kinship. The film neither excuses this nor presents it as the problem of one community alone. The telling uses the shapes of the thriller; what really unsettles is the question of who covers the crime up.
