What Backstreet Boys: Show 'Em What You're Made Of Is About
Twenty years after their first record, the Backstreet Boys get back together and decide to fund an album themselves. The camera follows the sessions while all five of them talk as men approaching forty with wives and children: the money that went missing under their old management, health problems, and the resentments they never settled. Stephen Kijak avoids making a fan film. He is as interested in the machinery that turned them into one of the biggest selling acts of the nineties as in what that machinery took from them. The five go back to Orlando where the group was put together and to the places they grew up. What comes out is less a nostalgia tour than five men reckoning with middle age.
