Batman: The Long Halloween, Part Two

The second part of an animated adaptation of a Batman comic. The story starts where the first film ended. In Gotham a murder is committed on every holiday and the killer is not found. Batman, Captain Gordon and the district attorney Harvey Dent formed an off-the-books team; it is still working, but the trust between them is thinning. In this part the balance of the city changes. As the mob families weaken, costumed criminals fill the gap. And what happens to Harvey Dent turns everything. The subject is how far justice can be delivered by law. Dent tried it that way, got nothing, and chooses another road. The narrative stays close to the original comic; the cast is large and most of Gotham's known names appear. The visual style leans on noir: night, rain, long shadows. Jensen Ackles, Josh Duhamel, Naya Rivera and Troy Baker are among the voices. Chris Palmer directed. A solid conclusion for anyone who likes comic adaptations and dark Batman stories. For someone who has not seen the first part, it continues directly and does not stand alone.
