Tatti Sanguineti What Belluscone: A Sicilian Story Is About
Franco Maresco set out to make a documentary in Palermo about Silvio Berlusconi's alleged ties to the mafia, and the project came apart in his hands. The film is about that too: the critic Tatti Sanguineti arrives in Palermo to work out what happened to Maresco's unfinished picture. What emerges sits between documentary and fiction, tracing the line that runs from neighbourhood singers through local patronage to national politics, with the unconditional Berlusconi loyalist Ciccio Mira at its centre. It won the Special Jury Prize in the Horizons section at Venice in 2014.
