What BOCCHI THE ROCK! Recap Part 1 Is About
Hitori Gotou is a high school student who cannot talk to people. She practised guitar alone in her room for years and built a following online, but in real life she cannot put two sentences together with anyone. One day she is taken into a band called Kessoku Band. Moving between rehearsals, stage fright and friendship, she gets as far as their first real gig. This film is not a new story; it is the first half of the television series recut for cinema. Keiichiro Saito directed it. The most talked about thing about the series is that it gives social anxiety as comedy and does so without belittling it: Bocchi's moments of panic are shown through exaggerated visual gags, but nobody is laughing at her. The music scenes are staged as though the playing were real.
