What Dhill Is About
Velu wants only one thing, which is to be a police officer. Eating at a restaurant near the beach one night, he goes to pay the bill and leaves his girlfriend Asha at the table, where a drunk policeman starts harassing her. She objects, he attacks her, and Velu comes back and beats him badly, leaving a scar on his face. What follows is the officer systematically destroying Velu’s life and any chance he has of joining the force. Dharani wrote and directed it, it opened in July 2001 with a score by Vidyasagar, and it was the first of his run of action successes.
