What Do You Remember Dolly Bell? Is About
Sarajevo in the sixties. Dino grows up in a small flat in the shadow of an ailing communist father, dabbling in hypnosis while being pulled towards the world of the local small-time criminals. One of them leaves a young woman in his care to hide, and he falls in love with her. This was Emir Kusturica's first feature, written by the Sarajevo poet Abdulah Sidran, and it won the first film prize at Venice. The noise of his later work is not here yet, leaving a quiet and melancholy story of growing up. It contains a hard scene of sexual violence.
