What Doraemon: Nobita's Diary on the Creation of the World Is About
This 1995 Doraemon film directed by Tsutomu Shibayama begins with Nobita having to do his summer holiday project. Doraemon gives him a kit that lets him build an entirely new world from scratch. Nobita and his friends then watch life appear on the planet they have made, following evolution and the development of the first creatures step by step. What starts as an excuse for homework turns gradually into a story about what creating something and being responsible for it actually mean. Among the feature-length entries in the series it is one of the most heavily science-fiction. Made for children, but it takes their curiosity seriously.
