Farewell to Dream

Yoichi is sixteen. He wants to go to sea. His parents sell fish. Six people live in the house. Yoichi has four brothers and sisters. The place is small and crowded. Then the losses begin, one after another. The little sister he loves is sent away. She goes to a wealthy uncle who has no children. His closest friend moves to another town. The girl he loved from a distance is with someone else. Everyone who matters to him drifts off, and growing up here means watching the illusions fall away. Shinji Tanaka and Yuko Mochizuki appear in the seventy eight minute film, a Japanese production Keisuke Kinoshita finished in 1956.
