What Frontier Marshal Is About
There is no order in the town of Tombstone: gambling, drink, guns, and a night life nobody interferes with. Wyatt Earp passes through, gets caught up in an incident, and agrees to become marshal. He takes on Doc Holliday, a sick gambler with a dark past, alongside him. The two men try to bring the town under control. Allan Dwan's seventy-one minute western is a heavily embroidered account of the gunfight at the O.K. Corral, with little in it that matches the history. Randolph Scott plays Earp and Cesar Romero plays Holliday. Seven years later John Ford would tell the same story again in a far more famous film. This version is short, fast and direct.
