It Takes a Man and a Woman

Cathy Garcia-Sampana's 2013 Filipino film is the last part of a trilogy following the same couple. Miggy and Laida have separated; Laida returns from a period in the United States a different person, and the two have to work at the same company. The film inverts the balance of the first two. This time Laida holds the stronger position; she opposes Miggy's business decisions, and the narrative rebuilds the old relationship through conflict at work. Sarah Geronimo and John Lloyd Cruz returned to their roles. The film was a large commercial success in Filipino cinema. The tone is largely comic and the romantic line goes where it is expected to. Who it's for: those who followed the series and like Filipino romantic comedy. Who it's not for: viewers who do not know the earlier films; the narrative summarises the past briefly and moves on.
