What My Perfect You Is About
Cathy Garcia-Sampana's 2018 Filipino film follows Burn, whose life has fallen apart, and Abi, who helps him back. The two meet by chance and set out together. The film does not give the relationship in a straight line. Abi's own situation comes forward in the second half; the narrative does not make the healing one-sided and takes up loss directly. Gerald Anderson and Pia Wurtzbach lead. The images were taken along the coast. The tone is light and the close sad. Who it's for: those who like Filipino romantic drama. Who it's not for: viewers wanting a love story that ends happily; the film does not give one.
