What Journey Into the Depth of the Student's Soul Is About
The film is made of small stories set in a secondary school. The frame of the account is held by a physics teacher who has been studying his pupils for years by taking notes on them. At its centre are a sensitive student who plays the piano well and a kind old biology teacher who has never been able to get through his state examination because of nerves. With help from a young Latin teacher, the pupils try to support the teacher they love through small tricks. Adapted from Jaroslav Zak’s writings about school, the production became one of the best loved Czech comedies of those years. Martin Fric’s eighty eight minute film was completed in 1939.
