Keriz

Zülfü is a simple, well-meaning man who believes whatever he is told. He and Zülfiye marry. But Abbas, Zülfü's uncle, who has his eye on his nephew's property, is determined to break them up. He starts rumours about the wife and turns his nephew against her. Zülfiye leaves for Istanbul with her family, and Zülfü, on his uncle's word, goes after her. Directed by Kartal Tibet, the film has Kemal Sunal as Zülfü and Perihan Savaş as Zülfiye. It uses the Yeşilçam comedy pattern of the eighties: the guileless hero, the greedy relative, the move from the provinces to Istanbul. The telling does not make a fool of its hero; what is really laughed at is the calculation of the people deceiving him. Under the humour there is a question of property, inheritance and family interest. It is one of Sunal's many comedies.
