What The Baggy Trousers Case Is About
After her husband dies, Elif comes back to her village. She is educated and stands on her own feet. What she finds has not changed at all: the women work the fields and the house while the men sit in the coffee house. So Elif gives the women an idea, and the bedroom stays shut until the men take a share of the work. Meanwhile Omer Aga, who has wanted her for years, keeps circling. Directed by Kartal Tibet, it is a loose adaptation of Aristophanes' Lysistrata, written for the screen by Basar Sabuncu. Mujde Ar and Sener Sen face each other and both are near their best. It is one of the few Yesilcam films of the eighties to put solidarity between women into comic form, and the arrangement it laughs at is still recognisable.
