What Marathon: The Patriots Day Bombing Is About
On 15 April 2013 two bombs went off at the finish line of the Boston Marathon. The documentary tells it not in the language of news but in the words of the people who were injured and their families. A newly married couple, a mother and her daughter, and two brothers; all of them were gravely hurt. The film follows the three years that came after. Ricki Stern and Annie Sundberg directed the film together. Its sources include surveillance footage, news material and interviews with reporters from the Boston Globe, which won a Pulitzer for that coverage. The telling does not show the attack in detail and does not put those responsible at its centre. The film ends on Marathon Day in 2016.
