Arati Kadav's film is the Hindi remake of the 2021 Malayalam picture The Great Indian Kitchen. Richa is a trained dancer who teaches; after marrying a well-off doctor, daily life in her new home moves entirely into the kitchen. Her father-in-law has a fixed order for his meals, her husband's habits are not up for discussion, and Richa's own work is postponed a little further every day. The film advances almost entirely through repeated housework: dishes, meal preparation, a blocked sink, scraps to be cleared. The camera records that repetition patiently, and only through that does the exhaustion reach the viewer. Nobody shouts and there is no open cruelty; the point is exactly how normal all of it is considered. Sanya Malhotra's performance follows a quiet line that hardens by degrees. It was released on streaming. Who it's for: viewers who like drama about domestic labour and gender. Who it's not for: anyone who has seen the original and does not want a close repeat; the film stays faithful to it.
