What One Piece Film: Z Is About
A former admiral who has left the navy sets out on a plan that would destroy sea power entirely. This time the pirates face not another pirate but someone who is right by his own logic. What distinguishes the film is its antagonist: his aim is not plunder but ending piracy itself, and his reasoning is persuasive. The narrative therefore blurs the usual division between good and bad. Tatsuya Nagamine directed, with the series' creator Eiichiro Oda involved in design and general production. It became one of the most watched films in the series. Who it's for: fans of the series who want a darker chapter. Who it's not for: viewers new to it; the film introduces no one.
