Plan B

After being left, Bruno wants his ex-girlfriend Laura back. Her new boyfriend is Pablo. Bruno makes a plan: he will befriend Pablo and, believing he has spotted a hint that Pablo might be interested in men, start something between them and wreck the relationship. The plan works up to a point. Then Bruno starts thinking something about himself he had never thought before. The method is the same as the director's other work: ordinary conversation, no incident, tension built entirely from looks and from who sits where. Two men watch a film on the sofa, cook together, fall asleep, and no scene names any of it. Marco Berger wrote and directed. Manuel Vignau plays Bruno and Lucas Ferraro plays Pablo. What is interesting is that who the plan's victim is stays unclear to the end; Bruno lays the trap and lays it for himself. Who it is for: anyone who likes quiet Argentine cinema and films that build tension without dialogue. Who it is not for: anyone wanting pace. The scenes are long, the same locations recur, and Laura stays outside the story of the two men.
